It finally turns cold and…

I’m ready to break out my spring clothes again.

In the Slim

My favorite resort print this season is “In the Slim” (part of the originals collecton). I absolutely love the color and the lace details–especially on the little lilly shift.

It was inspired by this photograph by Slim Aarons, 1960s era society photographer. (Click to see some of his work)

On painting my toenails blue…

I’ve never been one to jump on trend wagons quickly (if ever) but I’ve lately been bombarded with magazine articles and blog posts about how all the cool kids are wearing dark nail polish—blues, purples and greens so dark they basically look black. I’m not exactly sure where the newfound experimental courage came from but last week I made up my mind to try it.

I carefully selected a color, dark navy to go with my largely navy and dark pink Fall wardrobe. I was so nervous you’d have sworn I was going in to get a tattoo. At first I wasn’t sure about my choice. I wore closed –toe shoes for a few days. Finally I got daring and started wearing my uniform gold McKim sandals again. After a week, it is time for a polish change and I’m really starting to like my newfound “edginess.” I may graduate to purple.

Next step: dyeing my hair for the first time. (I have an appointment with Ronnie at Bath Haus early next week.)

I absolutely want to see this.

Might have to plan a road trip to New Orleans because that’s the nearest it is coming to Lafayette. The September Issue

Eek! We need help!

I hope that by now you already know about the Taste of Lafayette that we are hosting along with the other merchants of River Ranch. In case you don’t… each of the stores will be hosting a restaurant. We are lucky enough to have Ruth’s Chris in our store (yum!). For a $40 donation to the American Heart Association, eventgoers can stroll the streets of River Ranch tasting delicious specialties from the best restaurants in Lafayette.

Here is our problem… the merchants have made selling tickets an unofficial competition. Unfortunately we have been remiss and are losing quite handily to Jackie at Tenzie & Co. and Amy at Shoe La La. I am not going to allow us to lose… if you haven’t gotten tickets yet, give us a call. 337-456-5111

It really is for a great cause and will be tons of fun! Also, we’ll be donating 10% of our sales on Thursday evening to the American Heart Association.
